Ferrara has an annual Palio (horse race) between the various neighborboods, and associated with it is a team flag-throwing competion accompanied by trumpets and drums.The competition is held inside the municipal plaza, quite close to our hotel. This view of a rehearsal shows the other end of the Municipal Plaza with the nice Loggia and stairway similar to what was once found at the Palazzo Schifanoia.
