filename Steam 2-8-2 Mikado - CB&Q Burlington Route Purchased on 2004-05-30 - in New condition
Marklin number 81466 My first loco from my first set: # 81466; I abused it, took it apart, put it back together and it barely ran. Got it serviced ( by Stiskas ) and since then it runs, a little reluctantly maybe, but OK at speed and with a little added tungsten in frame, can really pull.
filename Class 89 Steam tank loco - Vacation Purchased on 2004-06-23 - in Good condition
Marklin Little Tank Loco 8800, 3-pole, from one of my first sets. I've purchased a lot of these tank locos from time to timel and I've swapped shells around as well, so the precise identification of each chassis is doubtful. This one kept with the cars from the vacation set with completers. Runs OK.
filename Diesel F7 - Santa Fe Purchased on 2004-07-20 - in Good condition
Marklin number 88606 3-pole? Currently with front pilot; usually run with another in a double ended AA consist. Replaced headlight with white directional LED configured so that AA consist is moving forward it is a white headlight and when in reverse it is off.
filename Steam 2-8-2 Mikado - Southern Pacific Purchased on 2004-07-24 - in Good condition
Micro-Trains Another Mikado 2-8-2. Tender (and caboose from same set) converted to MT couplers . Can also be run with a Northern Pacific Marklin equipped tended. Tungsten added 7/20/05 for better traction. Original dim headlight replaced by very bright white LED 3/07. Excellent runner, although a little noisier than most.
filename Diesel F7 - Pennsylvania RR Purchased on 2004-11-28 - in frount coupler condition
Micro-Trains Was a throw in with another engine/car lot. Had with a MT marklin coupler set. Repaired and wheel-wipered by myself. Shell swapped for an NYC. Trucks/couplers changed more times than I can remember. Shell currently unused.
filename Diesel F7 - New York Central Purchased on 2004-11-28 - in used condition
Micro-Trains Obtained in a lot that included four other cars & caboose; basically the shell and chassis went into my F7 box. Currently sits on a chassis that is fairly slow but matches another chassis with a NYC body.
filename Diesel F7 - Santa Fe Purchased on 2004-12-05
Marklin number 8860 Usually run with a front coupler; used as rear engine in double-ended AA style running. Replaced headlight with white directional LED, but it is fried so it does not illuminate. This is the designated 'rear' in the A-A consist, and it is slightly faster than its partner.
filename Diesel Class 361 Switcher - DB Purchased on 2004-12-14 - in old condition
marklin number 8804 red deisel switcher old style with 3-pole motor; after my initial tinkering runs OK though with some slight hesitations. Sometimes lives under plexiglass on my first "turntable" layout.
filename Class 89 Steam tank loco - Christmas Purchased on 2004-12-15 - in new condition

filename Steam 2-8-2 Mikado - Milwaulkee Road Purchased on 2005-01-30 - in MIB condition
Marklin number 8139 Stiska 3/13/05 - Tungsten added 7/20/05 for better traction, and rewarded with a new LED headlight. Runs strong and smooth, if a little slow (weight?) and kept with the rest of the set eithrt at home for the big ovals or at the Cape for the bannister line.
filename Class 89 Steam tank loco - Vacation Purchased on 2005-04-03 - in used condition
Marklin This is from a second set I bought because the original engine had stopped working. I've purchased a lot of these tank locos from time to timel and I've swapped shells around as well, so the precise identification of each chassis is doubtful. This one is kept on display as a 'static' model (it doesn't run.)
filename Diesel F7-B - Lehigh Valley Purchased on 2005-05-19 - in new condition
Micro-Trains number 17005-2 dummy B unit to pair with the F&A shell. Original couplers Marklin, now has one swapped for regular M&T. Mates well with the Faster F7; both kept at the Cape
filename Diesel F7 - Milwaulkee Road Purchased on 2005-11-12 - in new condition
Marklin number 88603 Usually run with the front pilot installed instead of coupler. Used as front of A-A consist. Has directional LED headlight which is white going forward and red in reverse. Overall a little slow for a Marklin F7.
filename Diesel F7 - undecorated Purchased on 2005-11-18 - in new condition
Micro-Trains number 12000-2 dummy 'A' unit; I experimented with this shell, trimming the frontpilot to allow for very tight radius turns. Then I tried to paint & decal shell to B&M Patriot scheme, but not very successfully. New Pic, sitting on a dummy chassis.
filename Diesel F7 - Milwaulkee Road Purchased on 2006-04-15 - in new condition
Marklin number 88603 Milwaulkee F7 sometimes used in an A-A consist, so front coupler is installed. Purchased with caboose. Overall a little slow for a Marklin F7.
filename Steam 4-6-2 Pacific - Pennsylvania RR Purchased on 2006-12-16 - in new condition
Marklin number 8882 Beautiful and smooth-running. Classis pacific usually lives inside a display case. LED headlight, otherwise untouched. Pulls long trains with ease.
filename Steam 2-8-2 Mikado - New York Central Purchased on 2007-03-18 - in used; painted; converted condition
Marklin number 8808 Used all-black NYC Mikado with MT coupler on tender and some brown paint on wheels. Runs OK after a little minor service. My original intention was to convert to private logo, but the lettering etc., on the tender is quite lovely, so who knows. Now has LED headlight.

mixed number N/A This is a Nelson Grey F7 shell painted and decaled as 'Piedmont & Shore #148' running on a modified Marklin 8875 diesel chassis. I am told these shells were sold as a kit specifically for this chassis. The chassis runs slow and a little rough, but does run, albeit backwards due to a reverse-installed motor.

L.J.Thek Will experiment with a couple of plastic shells and Lajos' brass shell on this. Most of the time in Lajos brass shel. Slow and noisy. Current pic shows Lajos shell and two others I bought from Shapeways, all painted by me (alas!)

filename Diesel F7 - Santa Fe Purchased on 2012-08-25 - in old, not running condition
Marklin number 88601 Finally a blue warbonnet! Engine chassis lacked one motor brush, so I sold the original chassis (wearing a red shell) and put this shell on a good chassis with a LED headlight. Runs swift and strong (and loud). Kept at same location as blue SF caboose.

AZL number AZL-61008 Another AZL SD70!?! Looks Great, runs well. Shell now rides another SD70 chassis which runs smooth but a little noisier; and this nearly perfect chassis now drives the Susquehanna shell. Anyway, my homage to the line (and the stock.) Road number 2509.
filename Diesel SD70M - Susquehanna Purchased on 2014-11-24 - in new condition
AZL number AZL-61012 Couldn't resist the paint job. Original chassis ran very slow with a slight hitch in its gait, so I switched the chassis onto the Norfolk Southern, and it's now my #1 SD70. Road Number 4052 of the New York, Susquehanna and Western.
filename Diesel GP7 - Pennslvaina RR Purchased on 2014-11-30 - in new condition

filename Diesel SD40-2 - Missouri, Kansas, Texas Purchased on 2017-06-16 - in unknown condition
MT number MTL 970 01 122 Not sure why this loco appealed to me. Not a fan of the SD40-2. But it is MKT (although a mundane paint scheme) and it was described as running slow, which is an understatement. Nevertheless, here it is. Road number624, and running somewhat better after a little TLC.
